Your email and the free guide
When you sign up for the starter kit, we save your email address, the time and source of your signup, and the version of the email-consent wording you accepted. This creates a subscriber record for occasional family travel emails from We’re Just Winging It. We do not sell this list or show email addresses to other visitors.
The guide downloads immediately on this site after signup. This form does not currently send an email or verify ownership of the email address. Please use your own address. An email service may be used to deliver future messages to subscribers.
To leave the list, use the unsubscribe link provided in our emails. Unsubscribed records are marked so we can honor the opt-out. For a deletion or other privacy request, use the contact information on our original website.
Download access and abuse protection
After signup, this site sets an essential cookie that remembers your download access for 30 days. It does not contain your email address. The signup service temporarily stores a keyed, non-readable value derived from your network address to limit repeated requests; those records expire and are removed as later requests are processed. Subscriber records are stored separately from that limit.
Aggregate website analytics
We automatically measure page views, popular guides, referring website names, campaign labels on the current page, broad device and browser categories, approximate country, clicks, scroll milestones, estimated active reading time, search result counts, signup steps, successful signup requests, and PDF responses served. We also measure page performance and generic error categories. Counts are stored as daily summaries, not as individual browsing histories.
This analytics system does not create visitor or session identifiers or tracking cookies, and does not fingerprint visitors. We do not store raw IP addresses, full browser strings, precise location, form contents, search words, error messages, or full URL query strings in analytics. Incoming network information is processed to serve the site, derive broad technical categories and approximate country where available, and limit abuse using a short-lived keyed value. We do not link analytics to subscriber email addresses or share it for advertising.
Daily summaries are kept for up to 400 days and older rows are removed as new measurements arrive. Reports use UTC dates. The previous consent-based edition’s records remain subject to its 90-day detailed-record retention period; it no longer collects new detailed records. Legacy analytics identifiers are cleared when you visit this edition.
You can . This stops future optional measurements and saves only an opt-out preference cookie for up to 180 days; it does not delete past summaries. We also disable analytics when your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control. Declining in the earlier edition remains an opt-out. All guides, signup, and PDF access work with analytics off.
Reading and searching
Guide searches run in your browser and put the search words in the page URL. Aggregate analytics records only that a search happened and its result count, not the words. Information you type into a downloaded PDF stays in your copy; this site does not receive it. External links use a referrer policy that limits cross-site referrers to this site’s origin.
Hosting and fonts
The hosting service may process ordinary request information such as IP addresses, browser information, and requested pages to serve and protect the site. Web fonts are requested from Google Fonts, which receives the network information needed to deliver them. Read Google’s privacy policy.
External websites
Links to our original journal, airlines, hotels, issuers, and other sources take you to separate websites with their own policies. The original journal’s forms, analytics, or affiliate links are governed by the notices on that site.
Please avoid putting passwords, full card numbers, or sensitive account information in search boxes or messages.
